The Popularity Vs. Ability Bell Curve
by Dr. Zoltan Øbelisk

Point A: You are a beginner. Your level of experience causes others to cringe. When you perform on your instrument to the best of your ability it will sound like incoherent noise to the average human. You are of little worth to society and are unable to earn money from music. Get a job or do your best to move towards Point B.

Point B: You are mediocre. You can play most of the songs on the radio. You have developed a vocabulary full of cliché techniques that the average human can identify with. Most humans will be able to tap their foot and sing along, as most of what you play is safe and not challenging. You will be granted the opportunity to support yourself financially by reproducing sounds that are familiar to society. Success!

Point C: You are a virtuoso. Your level of experience causes others to cringe. When you perform on your instrument to the best of your ability it will sound like incoherent noise to the average human. You are of little worth to society and are unable to earn money from music. Get a job or do your best to move towards Point B.
